In March of 2007 I was approached by the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation to “makeover” a pair of their “Brute” breaker hammers. Both of them were in pretty rough condition…..they are demolition tools, after all! The tools were going to go to events around the country and serve as display tools. I forget to take lots of progress pictures when I’m working on paint projects. I do have a couple pics to share, so please check them out!
Since they wanted flames on both the breaker hammers, I needed to make sure that I didn’t spend a lot of time drawing the outline on the actual tools. I rendered a couple of images for them and got approval. Now it was time to go to work.
Meet the Bosch Brute breaker hammer.
As you can see, this one is pretty messed up, as far as paint goes. The other one is just as bad. I’ll need to remove all the paint prior to spraying primer over the parts in preparation for paint.
All the internal components have been removed before painting.
Certain parts are plugged with ordinary cotton rags.
A special self-etching automotive primer has just been sprayed in this picture.
For the some of the pieces, I actually cut pieces of plywood to fit inside the tool and used hot glue to hold it in place while I painted.
The “fire” flames…..
The beginning of the “ice” flames…..
The Bosch Brute breaker hammer was painted with Auto Air Colors and finished with House of Kolor automotive clear.
